Trekking through the wilderness to catch a strong Pokemon might seem like an ordeal in of itself, but once you have your new addition trapped within a Poke Ball you aren't done yet. You still have to tame your Pokemon.
As a roleplayer, you won't take control of your own Pokemon until they're fully "tamed." There are several factors that determine whether or not a Pokemon is considered ready for you to control. Your mod has complete authority on whether or not you can take over the Pokemon and should not explain their reasoning. To be considered "tame," these criteria must be met.
- You are familiar with the Pokemon and you both have a general idea of what you can expect from each other.
- The Pokemon does not wish to harm you, escape from you or otherwise sabotage you.
- There are no unresolved "plots" that would be spoiled by giving you access to the Pokemon's knowledge.
- You, as a roleplayer, comfortably feel that you can portray the Pokemon's personality.
Once you're ready to be given control of the Pokemon, it's time for your mod to explain the Pokemon's actions and motives so far and to answer any questions you may have on the Pokemon's behavior. You may continue to have your mod help you with the Pokemon if you feel you're having trouble.
Remember that not controlling the Pokemon means only that - that you, as a roleplayer, are not in direct control. If you enter it in matches, you may give orders and the mod will decide how to interpret them. The Pokemon in question is treated as a character of the mod who created it until it is considered "tame."
