Gym Leader Alice
Alice Velaquez is a woman of few words and one of the harshest trainers to ever be in the media’s spotlight. Despite her position as the eighth gym leader her matches are rarely televised or given much media attention, though it isn’t for the media’s lack of trying. She scoffs at fans and the camera, for the most part seeking solitude from human company. Many speculate that she’s constantly pushing her Pokemon through rigorous training and doesn’t like to be distracted, but others say she just likes her privacy. In the end what’s known about Alice is limited. She has an icy personality and battles mercilessly, often to the death of her opponent’s Pokemon. Going up against her can be one of the most nerve-wracking experiences of a trainer’s career.
Despite the intensive training she puts her Pokemon through, Alice isn’t much in terms of strength. She’s skinny bordering on average and lacks muscle, though “weak” isn’t a word that often comes to the minds of those who see her. She stands at six foot one and has sharp, green eyes that could stop an angry Gyarados in its tracks. Her complexion is pale and her hair is straight and black, falling to her shoulders. Though she does have clothing for casual relaxation and training her Pokemon, most trainers will see her in formal business-wear.
The whole gym is a thing of cold steel and gray walls, with a waiting room that has only three stainless steel chairs for the challenging trainer's comfort. The arena is down a narrow set of stairs and is about as empty of needless decoration as one could manage. There are no boundary lines in this spherical room or anything else to indicate where a trainer should stand and the ground is of hard rock. The rock is cracked and jagged in many places, speaking of a long relationship of abuse from powerful Earthquakes. The room is devoid of windows and what light shines down from the ceiling is painfully dim, creating a dark and hostile seeming environment.
