A lot of things about Pokemon are confusing or aren't well explained for the purpose of roleplaying them. The aim of this thread is to gradually compile information on specific Pokemon and how they work. If you need to control a Pokemon that is not on the list or you want to know something about it for research purposes, ask the admin to add it for you.
This should not be treated as the contents of the in-character Pokedex.Click the Pokemon's name to bring up its entry. For faster browsing, use CTRL + F and type in the Pokemon's name or number. {#010 Caterpie} HP: 45 Attack: 30 Defense: 35 Sp. Attack: 20 Sp. Defense: 20 Speed: 45 Caterpie is a common Bug-type Pokemon found in wooded areas where its coloration allows it to easily hide in trees and bushes. It has two large, black spots that form an eye-like pattern on its face that it uses to intimidate enemies and obscure its real, smaller eyes. It is known for its extreme appetite and constantly eats leaves and other vegetation in preparation for evolution. It molts frequently as it grows.
Caterpie is a very docile Pokemon and fairly easy to capture. If it does not reach level seven, it usually evolves into Metapod after a few months of constant eating. Caterpie can't safely evolve without risking starvation if it hasn't taken in enough calories.
Caterpie naturally has Shield Dust and Run Away.
A Caterpie's Shield Dust prevents the secondary effects of moves from taking effect.
A Caterpie's Run Away doubles its speed while it's fleeing. {#011 Metapod}
HP: 50 Attack: 20 Defense: 90 Sp. Attack: 25 Sp. Defense: 25 Speed: 30
When Caterpie evolves into Metapod, it loses its ability to move beyond writhing or use Tackle until it becomes Butterfree. Metapod has an outer shell as sturdy as steel when sufficiently hardened. If this does not deter predators, its only method of escape is to drop from the trees using String Shot.
Metapod will usually stay perfectly still to conserve the precious calories it took in while still a Caterpie. Over the course of about one week it will slowly gain three levels before finally evolving into Butterfree. While Metapod can choose not to evolve it cannot eat and will begin to starve.
Metapod naturally has Shed Skin.
A Metapod's Shed Skin will sometimes cause Metapod to glow and shed its outer layer of skin, curing it of a non-volatile status ailment. {#012 Butterfree}
HP: 72 Attack: 54 Defense: 60 Sp. Attack: 108 Sp. Defense: 96 Speed: 84
Any Metapod that survives long enough will eventually evolve into a Butterfree. Butterfree is a fairly common Pokemon that eats the nectar from flowers. It is extremely proficient at locating nectar and spends a good portion of its day foraging for food. Though it cannot produce honey, Butterfree has been shown to enjoy and be able to survive on it and it is the food generally used by trainers raising one.
Its wings are covered in a highly allergenic and water-repellent powder that allows it to fly in the rain. Trace amounts of this dust are released into the air whenever it flaps its wings.
Butterfree naturally has Compoundeyes and Tinted Lens. A Butterfree's Compoundeyes raises the accuracy of its moves by 30% of their original accuracy. A Butterfree's Tinted Lens doubles the power of "not very effective" moves. {#016 Pidgey}
HP: 40 Attack: 45 Defense: 40 Sp. Attack: 35 Sp. Defense: 35 Speed: 56
Pidgey is a common Flying type that normally possesses a peaceful disposition. It is not prone to fighting when it doesn't have to and will often utilize Sand Attack to flee from attackers. It's found in forests and other grassy areas where it hides in tall grass and flushes out prey such as Caterpie and Wurmple using strong gusts of wind. It also eats seeds. Despite its docile disposition, Pidgey can be surprisingly fierce when cornered.
It has an amazing homing instinct and sense of direction which makes it an ideal Pokemon to train to deliver messages. They are commonly sold as pets.
Pidgey naturally has Keen Eye and Tangled Feet.
A Pidgey's Keen Eye prevents its accuracy from being lowered.
A Pidgey's Tangled Feet gives it erratic movement patterns both in the air and on the ground while confused that makes it harder to hit. This does not make it less likely to fly into a tree.
A Pidgey with the hidden ability Big Pecks is protected from having its defense lowered unless it's an effect of its own moves. {#017 Pidgeotto}
HP: 63 Attack: 60 Defense: 55 Sp. Attack: 50 Sp. Defense: 50 Speed: 71
Pidgeotto is a powerful flier that builds its nest in the middle of a large territory of over 60 miles. It has outstanding vision and constantly patrols in search of prey and intruders. It attacks its targets mercilessly with powerful talons. Though it primarily targets other flying Pokemon, attacks on humans in deeper wilderness have been reported.
Pidgeotto can no longer survive on seeds and requires a diet of meat or fish.
Pidgeotto naturally has Keen Eye and Tangled Feet.
A Pidgeotto's Keen Eye prevents its accuracy from being lowered.
A Pidgeotto's Tangled Feet gives it erratic movement patterns both in the air and on the ground while confused that makes it harder to hit. This does not make it less likely to fly into a tree.
A Pidgeotto with the hidden ability Big Pecks is protected from having its defense lowered unless it's an effect of its own moves. {#018 Pidgeot}
HP: 83 Attack: 80 Defense: 75 Sp. Attack: 70 Sp. Defense: 70 Speed: 101
Pidgeot is a powerful Flying type known for its well-developed chest muscles and gorgeous, glossy plumage. It uses its large wings to intimidate its opponent and at maximum acceleration can reach speeds of up to Mach 2. It can spot small prey such as a splashing Magikarp from heights of 3,300 feet.
Pidgeot naturally has Keen Eye and Tangled Feet.
A Pidgeot's Keen Eye prevents its accuracy from being lowered.
A Pidgeot's Tangled Feet gives it erratic movement patterns both in the air and on the ground while confused that makes it harder to hit. This does not make it less likely to fly into a tree.
A Pidgeot with the hidden ability Big Pecks is protected from having its defense lowered unless it's an effect of its own moves. {#074 Geodude}
HP: 40 Attack: 80 Defense: 100 Sp. Attack: 30 Sp. Defense: 30 Speed: 20
Geodude is a common Pokemon in rocky or mountainous areas. It often buries itself in the ground and remains perfectly still for long periods of times, making it nearly impossible to differentiate from normal rocks of similar size. Because of this, it's easy to accidentally step on it. Though it can be difficult to wake a Geodude caught in a very deep sleep just by stepping on it, its also easy to anger one who isn't. It will often retaliate with swinging fists or a Magnitude, but will usually calm down once the target has backed away.
Wild Geodude will often throw themselves at each other in contests of who is harder or engage each other in sport-like battle. It propels itself around by using its fists as feet and can throw itself around for short bursts of speed.
The longer it lives, the more chipped and worn it will become. While it can eat carrion or vegetation for its daily caloric intake, it needs to eat rocks semi-frequently in order to regenerate its worn-down body. It has a preference for mossy rocks.
Geodude naturally has Rock Head and Sturdy.
A Geodude's Rock Head prevents it from taking damage from recoil moves.
A Geodude's Sturdy allows it to survive one hit that would have knocked it out. It does not need to be at full health.
A Geodude with the Hidden Ability Sand Veil has its evasiveness increased during a Sandstorm.
{#086 Seel}
HP: 65 Attack: 45 Defense: 55 Sp. Attack: 45 Sp. Defense: 70 Speed: 45
Seel is a Pokemon normally found in frigid waters. It has trouble moving around on land and is very slow while trying to do so, but is a graceful swimmer. It hunts for fish beneath sheets of ice. When it needs to come up for air it uses the hard horn on its head to plow through thin sections of the ice. Its nostrils are closed while it swims and it has a thick hide covered in light blue fur that protects it from the cold. Wild Seel is often found asleep on the sea floor in shallow waters during the day.
Seel requires a diet of raw fish and must be kept well-hydrated in order to keep it from becoming sick.
A Seel's Thick Fat halves the damage it takes from Fire and Ice type moves. It is also more resistant to extreme temperatures.
A Seel's Hydration cures it of any Status Ailment within three seconds if it is soaked in water.
A Seel with the hidden ability Ice Body will recover 1/16 of its health every turn that it is exposed to extremely frigid temperatures.
{#193 Yanma} HP: 65 Attack: 65 Defense: 45 Sp. Attack: 75 Sp. Defense: 45 Speed: 95 Yanma is an uncommon Pokemon found in temperate forests, usually around sources of water, and marshes. They lay clutches of tiny eggs in or near water. Yanma is a predatory Pokemon that preys primarily on bugs and other Bug Pokemon, though it may rarely hunt small mammals such as Rattata.
Yanma is an extremely proficient flier, capable of making sudden stops and quick turns. It often moves in small, quick bursts of speed. Its wings are completely silent. Its eyes are capable of scanning 360 degrees, allowing it to see behind it without turning its head or moving its eyes. It uses its wings to generate shock waves such as Sonic Boom.
Yanma naturally has Speed Boost and Compound Eyes.
A Yanma's Speed Boost boosts its speed by one stage whenever it uses a move.
A Yanma's Compound Eyes raises the accuracy of its moves by 30% of their original accuracy.
A Yanma with the hidden ability Frisk has the ability to see through thin objects. This allows it to see through thin veils such as clothes, bags, and foliage. It cannot see through thick objects. For example, it cannot see through skin to look at organs and cannot look through walls or thicker suitcases.
{#231 Phanpy}
HP: 90 Attack: 60 Defense: 60 Sp. Attack: 40 Sp. Defense: 40 Speed: 40
Phanpy is a group-oriented Pokemon that typically lives with its evolution in herds in the prairies. It uses its long snout to shower itself and its ears as fans to keep itself cool. Groups of them can sometimes be seen showering each other. Because of its nature as a herd animal, it is notoriously difficult to capture without setting off a herd of rampaging Donphan.
It bumps into others with its trunk as a sign of affection, but because of its strength it may hurt a human. It's easily strong enough that it could pick up and carry an adult human on its back if not for its small size.
Phanpy naturally has Pick-Up and Sand Veil.
A Phanpy's Pick-Up allows it a superior talent in tracking via scent and spotting small details in its environment. It's proficient at finding things.
A Phanpy's Sand Veil grants it increased evasiveness during a Sandstorm.
{#261 Poochyena}
HP: 35 Attack: 55 Defense: 35 Sp. Attack: 30 Sp. Defense: 30 Speed: 35
Poochyena is a Dark-type usually found in packs with its evolved form, Mightyena, in Ceriah's prairies. Because of this it can be difficult to capture by force. It is known for its aggressive nature and the tenacity with which it pursues its prey. It uses its enhanced sense of smell to follow its prey over long distances and heckle it when it tries to rest, slowly wearing it down.
It prefers prey that does not fight back and will attempt to intimidate prey by baring its jaws and bristling the fur of its back and tail. If alone, it will often flee if a formidable Pokemon strikes back.
Poochyena is an omnivore and will eat almost anything. Its strong jaws even allow it to devour the bones of its prey with ease. There are many varieties of Pokemon food that are suitable for a Poochyena in captivity and it is fairly easy to care for.
Poochyena naturally has Run Away and Quick Feet.
A Poochyena's Run Away doubles its speed while it's fleeing.
A Poochyena's Quick Feet raises its speed by one stage when inflicted with a status ailment. The speed drop from paralysis does not occur.
A Poochyena with the hidden ability Rattled has an inborn phobia of Ghost-, Dark-, and Bug-type moves. Whenever it is hit by one of these moves its speed is boosted by one stage.
{#309 Electrike}
HP: 40 Attack: 45 Defense: 40 Sp. Attack: 65 Sp. Defense: 40 Speed: 65
Electrike is a small predator normally found in packs with its evolved form, Manectric, in the prairies. It is also commonly bred in captivity for use as a service animal.
Electrike collects electricity from the friction it creates from running and the atmosphere itself. When the air is very arid its body will become a violent shower of sparks. It has also been observed sparking up less severely in response to approaching thunderstorms. Electrike stores its electricity in its long fur. It uses this electricity to stimulate its muscles and heighten its reaction speed.
Electrike hunts in packs in the wild. It can be fed raw meat or dog food. Brushing an Electrike helps rid it of excess electrical build-up.
Electrike naturally has Static and Lightningrod.
An Electrike's Static causes Electrike to give off violent sparks when hurt. Pokemon who make contact with it when Static activates have a 30% chance of being Paralyzed.
An Electrike's Lightningrod causes all ranged Electric-type moves to be drawn to Electrike and boosts its Special Attack by one stage when it's hit by an Electric-type move.
An Electrike with the hidden ability Minus has its special attack raised by 50% when in the vicinity of a Pokemon with the ability Plus. Bulbapedia. Werdnae, 2005. Web. 9/3/2013-5/18/2014.
