Welcome To Ceriah Ceriah is a Pokemon roleplaying game with an emphasis on being realistic, intelligent, and challenging.
Roleplay on Ceriah takes place in two major formats. The first, and the one you're most likely to be familiar with, is typical forum post-by-post where each roleplayer takes a turn making a post in the appropriate board. The second is a more pen and paper styled experience that usually takes place in an IM client. In both instances, interactions are based around short, action-oriented posts. What this means is that in all your interactions you should both:
1. Pay more detail to your character's expression, tone and body language. Thoughts are not necessary and often discouraged.
2. Keep the actions you take in one post limited to about five seconds or under before allowing the other roleplayer to respond.
Following these two key rules makes interactions on Ceriah transition smoothly and keeps the action flowing at a reasonable pace.
After a post-by-post instance of roleplaying has ended, roleplayers who enjoy writing may also choose to summarize and post the events from their character's perspective in a more detailed thread, writing out the events like they would a story. Any such summary thread and any normal thread that was not modded must be approved by a mod before it is considered canon.
Roleplayers that opt to use an IM client must post the log of events into the Roleplay Logs board and summarize, to the best of their ability, the events of any battles or expeditions.

What Makes An Adventure? There's no stepping into tall grass and seeing what pops out on Ceriah. Ceriah is goal-oriented and player-driven. That means that you drive the adventure through your unique goals and plans. While Ceriah is built to be a living world that allows you to interact with it your own way (even if you don't want to train Pokemon!) an aspiring Pokemon trainer will likely become familiar with both structured battling and adventuring.
Adventuring into the wilderness on Ceriah is best thought of as similar to striking out into dangerous territory with a small group of adventurers. You ideally have a decent team of Pokemon and are well-stocked to keep your team healthy and energized during the expedition. You may even have different Pokemon for field use than for structured battles. While some trainers simply like to explore, the most common goal of an expedition is to obtain new Pokemon.
Wild encounters are randomly generated and don't scale to the player's level. The levels of Pokemon do have a tendency to fall within certain ranges depending on the area, but the chance of something far above this range always exists and so caution should always be exercised in these excursions.
Adventuring should generally be thought of as a goal-oriented activity and not a training exercise. Ideally, you will avoid as many encounters as possible to keep your Pokemon healthy should an emergency arise. In a dangerous area you will want to complete your goal and get home safely.
Training is most commonly done in official league arenas. These can be found in facilities all across the country and offer an ideal training scenario with both convenient healing nearby and a reward of credits after any random match-up. Most trainers begin by training a few easy-to-obtain Pokemon before attempting anything more adventurous.
